What does a Support Worker do?

A Support Worker assists participants in achieving greater independence and quality of life through both in-home and community-based support.

  • Household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry

  • Community access, social outings, and appointments

  • Skill-building in budgeting, organisation, and meal preparation

  • Supporting therapy recommendations (from your OT, speech therapist, or psychologist)

  • Emotional regulation, routine, and confidence-building

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) and respite support

Each participant is matched with a Support Worker who fits their goals, preferences, and personality — ensuring the right support, from the right person.

All services are available to self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, with after-hours and weekend options for maximum flexibility.

Yes. Every Support Worker at Nourished Not Deprived holds an NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working With Children Check, and Police Check. All are supervised by Occupational Therapists with over 10 years of clinical experience, ensuring every service is safe, professional, and goal-oriented.

Absolutely. We always involve participants (and families or carers) in choosing a Support Worker. If the first match isn’t the right fit, we’ll rematch – no stress, no judgment.

Yes. Our Support Workers work closely with our allied health team – including Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians, and Psychologists — to ensure care is consistent, clinically guided, and aligned with your NDIS goals.

We currently offer Support Work face-to-face in Newcastle and surrounding areas, with a focus on accessible, local care that helps participants feel supported in their own homes and communities.
